Mrs. Amy Johnston joined the staff of Sayre School District in August 2005 as instrumental music instructor, and director of bands.  Originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina, Amy received her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC in 1992.  In 1999, she received her Master of Music Education from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL.  She relocated to Wellsboro, PA in 1999 where she assisted with several different band and choral programs throughout Tioga County.  She also performed each summer with the Wellsboro Town Band.  Her husband, Dave, and twin daughters Kristen and Claire, and Amy moved to Sayre in August 2005.  In addition to teaching instrumental music, she is also a Sergeant of the 28th Infantry Division Band, an Army National Guard unit in Hollidaysburg, PA.  As part of her military duties, she plays flute and piccolo and serves as the Unit Librarian.
